Worn well, good jewellery lasts. Put yours on last — after perfume, lotion and hairspray — and take it off before showering, swimming, sleeping or exercise. Store pieces dry, flat and apart so they don't scratch.
Sterling silver — Polish gently with a soft silver cloth. A little tarnish is normal and lifts in seconds; keep it in a dry pouch between wears.
Solid gold — Low-maintenance and water-tolerant, but still best kept from chemicals. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft cloth.
Gold-plated & vermeil — The plating is delicate. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth only, avoid water and rubbing, and keep away from harder pieces to protect the finish.
Brass with crystals or pearls (many Vivienne Westwood designs) — Keep completely dry. Wipe the metal with a soft dry cloth, never submerge, and keep perfume off the stones and pearls. Store in its pouch.
